Jonathan Kinge runs a pig unit on the old Chivers' jam headquarters in the north west corner of Suffolk. Like many other pig farmers he found making a living from an labour-intensive independent breeding unit was far from 'jammy'.
So he investigated the possibility of depopulating, putting up a new pig farrowing house, carrying out conversions to other buildings and starting afresh with a new herd.
