BALANCE Farrowing Flooring System
with moveable piglet areas –
the solution for overlaying of piglets
The BALANCE Farrowing Flooring System has a unique moving floor, which dramatically reduces the chances of piglets being layed on by the sow. With the majority of mortality through crushing occurring during the first few days after birth when the piglets are still finding their feet, the Balance Floor has clear benefits.
When the sow is in the standing position the two side floor areas along with the piglets drop down so that the piglets cannot lay under the sow. When the sow lays down the floors and the piglets come back up to the same level to allow suckling. The floors are operated by a pneumatic valve. When the piglets are around 7 days old the valve is shut off with the side floors in the ‘up’ position, which keeps the floors at the same level.
